I can’t believe it’s been about a year since I’ve posted a page. Truth is I burned out. And for months I couldn’t even think about drawing anything Serpents-related.
I finally started to write about my story for the first time— All this time I’ve been going right out of the brain lol. Actually writing has given me some major epiphanies and revelations and it’s time to build this ship right BEFORE I start sailing.
I consider what is on the site now to be a “rough draft” of sorts……..and eventually it will be taken down I’m sorry to say. Rest assured it will not be a reboot in the sense it’s a new story with same characters…….quite the opposite. It’s the same story but just much much stronger because I’ve actually taken the time to plan it out. Things I was desperately trying to figure out in between stressing out to get a page done each week I’ve finally managed to pull out of the deep crevices of my brain. It was always there I just never had the time to get it straightened out.
Main reason I’m doin this is because my dream is to hold my comic in my hands someday as a hardcover graphic novel….and even if I wanted to use what I’ve already done I’d have to redo the art anyway because I lost all my printable files…twice heh.
Sooo anyway…I appreciate you guys more than you could know. You’ve kept me going all these years and I understand if you are frustrated with what I’m going to do, but I hope you will stick around because I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you like the comic that has already existed for several years.
I’m still restructuring the writing of the existing chapters and am not ready to post pages yet but I am going to try to do more comic-related art which you can follow @SerpentsoftheOldNature on Instagram or Facebook if you like!
For those of you with characters you created for this universe, worry not! It’s a big story with lots of room and lots of need and one way or another all the beautiful gems you’ve gifted me will shine <3

Well, what do you know: I decide to check ComicFury for, well, updates, and on the very same day I decided to do that, I see this. I am... intrigued, to say the least.
Now, I'm not gonna lie: yes, it will feel somewhat frustrating to wait for the story to go through the same things we've already seen again, but it will definitely be worth it to see it refined, and OH YES, we're still gonna see how the rest unfolds!
So yeah. I'm sure this will be well worth the wait.
I 100% understand haha… and even though I’m excited I’m a little frustrated too. But I think the restructure will be different enough so that those of you who’ve been reading for years will still have fun—- some scenes are being cut to be replaced with better, stronger scenes….world building will be a bit more organized. Some backstories finally fleshed out officially. The major plot points and overall arch is the same, but we going to be more efficient with the storytelling.
I think it’ll be worth it, I really do!

Oh, wow! First off, I'm glad you're doing okay; I totally understand being burned out and I'm so glad you've managed to come out the other side of that. It's been a while since I've been on CF myself, I'm glad you took the time you needed to recover.
Second off, is it weird to say that I'm really glad you've decided to restructure and tackle the story from scratch with a script and a plan and all that fun stuff? Because it probably is, but I really am. SotON is fantastic and I love it (obviously!) but it does have, hm, rough draft vibes, shall we say? And there's nothing wrong with that! But it'll be really nice to see it polished up so that it really gets to shine, if that makes any sense.
Anyway I support this endeavor, is what I'm saying. And if you ever want any help or company or someone to complain to about how writing stories is hard (because god knows it's hard) my DMs are always available. :]

Haha as a writer yourself, and a dam good one, lol I'm sure it is soooo cringey to imagine me trying to tackle this big story having neve actually written anything for it. I guess it's a little impressive I could carry on as long as I did without a total flop, but... it's gonna be much better now of that I am sure!
I'm happy to know you are still popping in and I'd actually love to chat with ya about some ideas regarding Zara and things like that! I hardly use the heserpenty gmail anymore (lol that's the account I sign up for everything with so I never have to actually see the spam)...but it'll happen one of these days ^_^

It was hard to come to this decision, so I feel you! But for me it got to the point where each new page was so stressful because I was trying to avoid writing myself into a hole I couldn't climb out of haha. It wouldn't be so bad if this wasn't such a twisty-turney type of story heh

Well the art is the main thing that needs revamping haha buuuut also the writing is just going to be tightened up and...better XD. That's the idea anyway! So it's the same story just...more organized. Some scenes taken away, some added, some reworked.

I've been hanging around CF more again and am finally checking in on the actual comics (lol).
I 100% understand all of the trials of realizing all the things you could have been doing better and how much better it would have been if it was planned out from the start. DX
But (if you're like me) you also realize that getting to the place where you can write and draw your story the way you want required doing it this way first.

I am glad to see you are doing OK, or at least I hope life is not to hard. I like this story, but I totally get how hard it is to create something. Basically life happens when you have other plans.
Just know there is no exception of when or how this will come back, and no disappointment if does not. Just hope one day that the story continues in some form.
